Client: QUEST Apartment Hotels
Task: Water-Proofing
Skills: Surface Preparation Over-spray control Application conditions
Our customer needed a superior water-proofing membrane with long warranty period for the flat roof top of a serviced apartment complex.
We were able to offer and then install a high end spray applied polyurethane water-proofing membrane that was backed by the manufacturer, RhinoLinings Australasia, with a 25 year warranty. Our customer used this project to showcase their expertise to their client. The client was so impressed by the built, that our customer won another prestigious project (QUEST Ascot) from that client.
We would hope that the high quality water-proofing membrane that we installed contributed to our customer's success. And we are sure that their client will appreciate in the years to come that they will not have any issues with water ingress from the roof.
Another very happy customer!

Among standard challenges, we had to pay particular attention to over-spray. Since this building was constructed within a block of existing buildings and offices, normal work life continued in close proximity to the construction site. Since this type of membrane is a plural component spray application, particles become airborne during operations. Needless to say that Joondalup and the height of the building were providing us with gusty winds meaning we had to apply our experience and skills to control any contamination / damage to other buildings or vehicles. This was even more challenging at the top of the stair case roof (the highest point of the building with no ballustrades).

Another challenge was to accommodate the particularities of the roof construction. The top slab was not only a hollow core slab (usually more prone to movement) with a top screed but it also had an additive for waterproffing in the substrate. Well, we found the right methods and products and installed the membrane in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations.

Yet another challenge was the multitude of substrates (concrete, screed, plastic, copper, polymers, and joints) we seamlessly applied the membrane to from horizontal to vertical (penetrations, risers, structures, parapet etc.).
